Our Story

GaN emphasizes collaboration and teamwork, encouraging employees to develop affinities resulting in new skills and solutions mastery. Our day-to-day work environment welcomes passionate people who are excited about solving challenging problems.  A culture that values dissenting opinions and challenges both sides to present objective evidence allows disagreements to stay technical and not become personal.

There is also a non-zero chance of being caught in a nerf gun battle and being taken out in the crossfire. While the nerdy culture and atmosphere of GaN can be off-putting to some, it creates an environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and a cathartic expression of oneself.

Geeks and Nerds is homegrown in its truest sense, with origins in founder Jonn Kim’s living room. Today, GaN employees span the United States working in Alabama, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Georgia, and Hawaii.

The main office in Huntsville catches the most attention, with eclectic interior architecture and colorful furniture. An armory of Nerf artillery and ammunition are evidence of spontaneous, team-building battles. The building itself has its own list of historical tchotchkes with some, like the now decorative bar in our main lobby, over a century old.

The Big Spring Park office, called Café Innovation, is located in the heart of Huntsville’s downtown. Sitting atop the Triad Properties building and looking over the expansive park, the space is a vibrant, transient work environment for exploring ideas. The people, culture, and atmosphere at GaN enables the coming together of both technical experts and customers to create solutions that make a difference. By allowing the freedom of expression and encouraging a geeky and nerdy mentality, GaN can create solutions that meet, and often time exceed, the customers’ expectations. And doing this with the larger mission of supporting our warfighters who are putting themselves in harms way to maintain our freedom inspires a passion to ensure that we are providing cost effective, rapid, and quality products.
